VBJ launches two new jewellery collections

CHENNAI: Vummidi Bangaru Jewellers launched two stunning nature-inspired, handcrafted platinum collections called The Ginkgo Leaf and Buddha Pod on Wednesday. This marks the brand’s foray into the designer platinum jewellery segment. 

The collections from the VBJ Creative Centre were unveiled by Jithendra Vummidi, managing partner at Vummidi Bangaru Jewellers, and Vaishali Banerjee, MD of the Platinum Guild International – India.
“The simplistic, light-weight and contemporary style is suitable for office and daily wear,” said Jithendra. “Our focus has always been to deliver exclusive collections to ensure that our customers get unparalleled styles.”

The Ginkgo Leaf collection is inspired by the Ginkgo tree, a symbol of resilience and beauty. “It holds within it an untold story of a women’s strength and courage,” he said. “In addition to symbolising longevity, life and endurance, the collection is a tribute to all women who have displayed inner strength in trying times.”

The Buddha Pod collection is handcrafted with diamonds encrusted delicately upon platinum. The collection is inspired by the unique ‘heart-shaped’ Buddha pod seed. The Buddha Pod is meant to metaphorically represent a woman’s heart as she spreads infinite love to one and all.

“Both collections have a unique design story through contemporary designing,” said Vaishali. “Each piece of jewellery has the finesse and elegance that is synonymous with the language of platinum jewellery. I am sure that these designs will talk to the discerning young consumers in India.”

The collections comprise neckpieces, earrings, rings and bracelets crafted in a metal that is 30 times rarer than gold.

Chief minister Raghubar Das launches Atal clinic in Ranchi

Chief minister Raghubar Das on Friday inaugurated an Atal clinic at Edalhatu in Morabadi that will offer free treatment and medicines to local residents.

The clinic was part of the 25 Atal clinics launched in 17 districts of Jharkhand on Friday, to mark the death anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Ranchi mayor Asha Lakra, Ranchi MP Sanjay Seth, state urban development minister C.P. Singh, deputy mayor Sanjeev Vijayvargiya, state health secretary Nitin Madan Kulkrani and urban development secretary Ajoy Kumar Singh were present at the inauguration of the Edalhatu clinic.

“This clinic is dedicated to our beloved former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. We have set a target to open as many as 100 Atal clinics across Jharkhand by September 25. In the 2019-20 budget, the government had promised to start clinics at the colony level,” the chief minister said in his address.

The CM directed civil surgeons of the districts to visit Atal clinics daily to ensure their proper functioning.

The clinic will operate from the RMC ward office. The government will appoint a doctor who will be available at the clinic from 6-10 in the morning and 6-8 in the evening.

The Atal clinic, which will function as a normal outdoor patients’ department, will offer free treatment and medicines for normal health problems.

The facility of vaccination will be available twice a week.

Pregnant women can seek free medical consultation at the clinic, which can also conduct tests for anaemia, tuberculosis and malaria.

State health secretary Kulkarni said Atal clinic would be opened in urban areas having a minimum population of 15,000 to 20,000 people who don’t have easy access to sadar and government hospitals and health centres.

“Local urban bodies will have to provide space for these clinics, which will be opened in accordance with the requirement. It is not necessary that every ward under the civic body will have a clinic,” Kulkarni said.

On the Ayushman Bharat scheme, the flagship scheme of the central government that was launched from Ranchi on September 23 last year, the CM said: “We had set a target to include 2.85 crore people belonging to 57 lakh families of Jharkhand under this scheme. So far, golden card has been issued to 40 lakh individuals. We have set a target to issue golden cards to the remaining 2.45 crore people by the end of September 23. The government has launched the drive from today (Friday).”

On the sidelines of the clinic launch, the chief minister handed over golden cards to some of the local residents.

Vice President Naidu launches state DBT scheme for farmers in Jharkhand

RANCHI, Aug 10: Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu on Saturday launched the Jharkhand Government’s ‘Mukhya Mantri Krishi Ashirwad Yojana’ under which money would be directly transferred into the bank accounts of farmers in the state.

Under the scheme, beneficiaries having farm land of less than one acre to five acres, will get Rs 5,000 to Rs 25,000 in their bank accounts.
As soon as Naidu launched the scheme, money was transferred into the bank accounts of farmers, and some them showed their mobile phones with the money transfer message to the vice-president.

“I saw the happiness in the face of the farmers who showed me the message on their mobile phones. I congratulate the government and the farmers on the occasion,” Naidu said.

He said the Centre has taken a pledge to double the income of farmers by 2022 and in that endeavour, the government is continuously increasing minimum support price (MSP) for 23 farm produce.

Calling for conservation of rainwater in view of depletion of ground water, Naidu said conservation of rainwater should be made people’s movement and hoped that farmers would use traditional method to help conserve ground water.

Praising the Centre and the state government’s efforts in protecting the interests of “annadata” (food providers), Naidu stressed on the importance of developing village and recalled the efforts made by him when he was the Union Rural Development minister.

“You need to have a structural change in the agricultural sector, and it should be the top priority,” he said.

According to an official statement, under the Mukhya Mantri Krishi Ashirwad Yojana, approximately 35 lakh farmers will be benefited and by September/October and Rs 3,000 crore would be sent in the accounts of the beneficiaries.

The launching ceremony was also held in other 23 districts, apart from Ranchi.

Under the scheme, Rs 5,000 is given to those farmers having one acre or less agricultural land, Rs 10,000 to those having two acres, Rs 15,000 for having three acres, Rs 20,000 for having four acres and Rs 25,000 for having five acres of agricultural land. This is scheme apart from the benefits the farmers are getting under Centre’s PM-Kisan Yojana. (PTI)

SIAM launches safe driver incentive app at MoRTH event

Society for Automotive Fitness & Environment (SAFE), a SIAM initiative, in association with Ministry of Road Transport & Highways and Transport Department, Government of Jharkhand, organised the 20th edition of SAFE Annual Convention today in Ranchi, Jharkhand where a new app was launched to recognise, reward and incentivise people with good driving behaviour called ‘Driver Safe App’.

The convention this year was themed around ‘Make Roads Safer: 50 by 2030’, which implies reducing 50 percent fatality rate by 2030, with a fitting tag line – Safe Jharkhand. Sure Jharkhand. The convention was attended by prominent guests from the ministry and delegates from different backgrounds.

Speaking on the occasion, chief guest, C P Singh, minister of urban development, housing and transport department, Government of Jharkhand welcomed the automotive industry in Jharkhand and requested to spearhead their CSR funds for automotive testing centre at Jharkhand. He also stressed that the lawmakers should first adhere to the road rules and regulations and then enforce the same for the public. He also informed that Transport Department secures crores of funds and provides it to the Police department for proper allocation. The corporates and the enforcement agencies have to go a long way to make safe and secure Jharkhand.

Addressing the delegates, Prawin Kumar Toppo, secretary transport, Government of Jharkhand laid emphasis on the road safety concern and said, “Safety on the roads is as much a responsibility of individuals as it is on the law enforcers. He welcomed the auto industry for managing the road safety work in Jharkhand by opening the ILC centre and training centre.” 

SIAM and the Automotive Skills Development Council (ASDC) also launched ‘Driver Safe App’ which is a platform to recognise, reward and incentivise people with good driving behaviour. This app is designed to provide better knowledge to the drivers to prevent road accidents and can detect a driver’s way of driving, the driving pattern and the level of proficiency in driving. Based on this, skill-based training can be provided to drivers which will eventually help in reducing accidents and thus lead to safer roads.

P.K. Banerjee, executive director, technical, SIAM said, “This is a unique initiative to make better drivers and better traffic management system in today’s fast paced era.” 

The sessions were divided in four categories under four ‘E’s of safety, namely, Education, Enforcement, Engineering and Emergency Services. The first session highlighted on educational transition for school, colleges and for all road users and also to create a roadmap to impart education for safer driving habits making ‘Safe Jharkhand. Sure Jharkhand’. During this session, Arun Lakshman, road safety consultant automotive skill development council,  Neeru Sachdeva, road safety expert, Gyan Mandir Public School, S Dheerendra, road safety specialist, Safe India Drive, Hyderabad, Pankaj Singh, director, Health & Safety at ACC Limited (Lafarge Holcim Group) shared their insights to all delegates.

The second session emphasised on the steps to be taken for bringing stringent enforcement for road discipline for achieving  Safe Jharkhand. Sure Jharkhand. Anil Chikkara, MLO, Delhi transport department, and Ritwik Mishra, consultant road safety cell, transport department, Jharkhand presented their insights to all delegates.

The third session was focussed on safe transport and road engineering and suggested that sustainable steps should be taken by enforcement bodies in making Safe Jharkhand. Sure Jharkhand. This session was presented by  H M Naqvi, chief general manager, National Highway Authority of India (NHAI),  Rama Shankar Pandey, managing director, Hella India, S R Hariharan, deputy general manager, Volvo Trucks India and B Bhanot, consultant, Rosemarta.

The last session, titled ‘Emergency services’ – Bringing sustainability in public health and air quality, discussed the importance of bringing sustainable solutions for emergency services achieving Safe Jharkhand. Sure Jharkhand. During the session, Nitin Madan Kulkarni, health department, Jharkhand,  Eilia Jafar, chief program officer, Save LIFE Foundation, Dr M S Khalid Quasmi, deputy general manager (Occupational Health Services), Tata Motors and Dr Gaurav Gupta, national professional officer (Injury and Disability Prevention), World Health Organisation (WHO) presented their insights. Abhinav Kumar Verma, an accident survivor victim also shared his traumatic experience at the convention.
