UPSC Civil Services Prelims Exam, A 6-Month Strategy (Dec-June).

Source – www.pagalguy.com

UPSC conducts the examination every year in the month of June. The official notification of the examination date is released by the commission in the month of February. This competitive exam is very tough and in a common scenario, an aspirant spends years preparing for it.  But is it really required?

Well, UPSC is the only examination that requires a person to have both smart study and hard work. With the right strategies in hand and complete dedication, one can clear the examination in just 6 month preparation.

We have mapped down a few points for you to use as a strategy for UPSC preparation.

  • Prepare a BASE– UPSC requires an aspirant to study the NCERT books which were once a part of your very curriculum. Go through the syllabus thoroughly and segregate the topics on priority basis. Make a schedule to cover these topics before the month of January ends. Do not miss the NCERT books as few questions asked by UPSC are directly picked from here. Along with this you will surely have to cover the current affairs you have missed up until December. There are many online sources and publications which release monthly and yearly current affairs compilation which you can use for preparation.
  • Combine with your pre knowledge– UPSC syllabus covers everything and anything under the sun. This means that your graduation syllabus is also included in it. Combine both your existing knowledge and the portion that you have studied in the last months. Revise these on a day to day basis (Subject wise). Along with this, enrol in the preliminary mock quizzes to test your knowledge and preparation. If you are able to successfully do this, you are probably 50% closer to your target.
  • No time for extra- In the 6 month preparation course you cannot spend time on learning new things every day. Do not feel overwhelmed by seeing other aspirant’s preparation styles. Focus on the content you have covered and keep revising it. UPSC also asks questions from the previous papers, so circle back in time and practice all the past papers.
  • Analyse – The month of April is all about analysing your mistakes and building on it. One can easily do this by giving mock tests. The scores are not your permanent scores but they do give a rough idea of how your actual results would be. Do not take these scores lightly, analyse your weaknesses and strengths from here. Make a strategy on how can you use your strengths and overcome the weakness. Remember, UPSC has a negative marking pattern, so not answering the question would be more favourable than marking the wrong ones.
  • CSAT– CSAT is the Part B of the UPSC’s preliminary examination. Many aspirants take CSAT lightly, however, they often fail this as well. Even though the examination is just qualifying in nature, it does require preparation. Go through the past papers and give at least one hour for it. (Study for it during the break between two General studies subject). By the time you reach May end, all you have to focus is on the positives. Do not sit in last minute comparison, focus on your wits.

Final Getaway!

Many aspirants believe that UPSC is the toughest examination and cannot be cleared in 6 months preparation. Nonetheless, this is not the reality, if one is determined and is good at smart study. \

They can easily clear the UPSC Civil Services preliminary exam within 6 months. But this would be just the beginning there is a lot more in the store that the UPSC aspirant has to cover for the Mains preparation, so buckle up aspirants, let’s get set study!

BJP dares Cong chief to clear stand on ‘thieves’ remark

Source: dailypioneer.com

State BJP leader and party spokesperson, Pratul Shahdeo has demanded State Congress president Rameshwar Oraon to make his stand clear on his ‘all are thieves’ comment. A few days ago, the State Congress chief, while talking to media persons on Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) future in State remarked that Chor Log Chori Karte Samay Ek Rahte Hain, Aur Chori Ka Maal Baatte Samay Alag Ho Jate Hain (thieves are together while committing theft, but fall apart while sharing the loot).

Shahdeo said, “The BJP wants to know from Congress chief that who is he referring to as Chor (thief) in his remark. With such a remark, Congress has equated JMM leader and former chief minister Hemant Soren, JVM (P) leader Babaulal Marandi and RJD chief Lalu Prasad on the same table.”

The BJP leader said this is not for the first time that Mahagathbandhan leaders have used such words for their partners. During the last Lok Sabha election, JMM executive president and former Chief Minister Hemant Soren had compared alliance leaders with rubble. The BJP leader said that Oraon’s remark, who is a senior Congress leader in State, implies that all is not well within the Mahagathbandhan camp.

Sources said that with just three to four months left for Assembly elections, the Mahagathbandhan leaders are yet to decide on alliance formula. Few days ago, Oraon stated that the Mahagathbandhan is still not clear about who they are going to project as their leader in coming Assembly poll. Oraon’s remark was a shock for JMM leadership as the JMM leaders have tried to project Hemant Soren as their Chief Ministerial candidate.

The Congress, on August 26, appointed Rameshwar Oraon as the new president of its Jharkhand unit and announced five working presidents for the State ahead of the Assembly elections scheduled later this year.

The new appointments in Jharkhand came after former State Congress chief Ajoy Kumar resigned from his post on August 9 owning moral responsibility, but blamed senior State leaders for sabotaging the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

The BJP leader on the occasion also attacked JMM for being anti-tribal. Shahdeo said, “JMM is number one party who is anti-tribal, as on several occasions the party has tried to betray tribals of this State.”

The BJP leader said that the JMM government introduced CSAT mode of examination in JPSC which is against the interest of tribals and moolvasi. Also in the JPSC examination very less weightage was given to local languages. Shahdeo said, “The JMM leader intentionally created hurdles in defining the local policy depriving lakhs of tribals from Government jobs.”

The BJP leader claimed that the JMM leaders, with an attempt to weaken the Gram Sabha, had provided sand license to businessmen from Mumbai. Also the JMM never made any local as Rajya Sabha members but made millionaire businessmen Muktinath Upadhaya and KD Singh as party’s representatives for Rajya Sabha.

JPSC aims to wrap up evaluation by October

Source: dailypioneer.com

The Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) has set a target of completing the ongoing evaluation process for the 6th JPSC Combined Civil Services mains examination by the end of October this year, officials from the commission said on Tuesday. However, the results will be declared only after Jharkhand High Court gives its go-ahead to the commission, they added.

“Since the number of aspirants is very high, we have set a target of completing the evaluation by the end of October. Once the evaluation is over, we will seek permission from the High Court for declaration of the results,” said Sudhir Tripathi, Chairperson of JPSC.

On the day the mains exam started, a court of Chief Justice Aniruddha Bose and Justice Anubha Rawat Choudhary ordered that the results of JPSC Mains should not be declared without the court’s permission.

The prelims test for JPSC 6 was conducted way back on December 18, 2016 and its result was declared in February 2017. Initially, the commission declared 5,400 candidates successful; however, months later it revised the results and declared 6100 candidates successful. The mains test, supposed to be conducted on January 29, 2018, had to be postponed by a year after some candidates approached the High Court with a plea citing incompliance of the reservation roaster in the prelims test.

Taking cognizance of the plea, the State Government constituted a committee headed by state revenue and land reforms minister Amar Bauri to look into the matter. In August last year the JPSC again issued fresh results declaring 34,634 candidates eligible for the Mains examination.

The number of candidates who cleared the Prelims was about 106 times the available 326 vacancies and that became the bone of contention. Aspirants alleged that as per rules, the number of successful candidates in Prelims should not exceed 15 times the total number of available vacancies.

Around 17,000 aspirants appeared for the JPSC mains exam. The evaluation of papers is being conducted under strict security and many JPSC officials too are not allowed to enter the evaluation cell of JPSC, an official said. He added that the JPSC had written to at least 62 universities seeking evaluators for the process. The evaluation process began in the month of June.

The Mains paper consisted of 1050 marks with 100 marks compulsory (Hindi/English), 150 marks papers on regional languages, and four papers each consisting of 200 marks.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court on Monday ordered reevaluation of papers for JPSC 1 and JPSC 2. The apex court gave a time of four months to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for completing their probe into the matter.
