Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) has released the IBPS Clerk prelims admit card 2019. Candidates who had applied can now download their call letters from ibps.in. The preliminary exam is scheduled to be held on December 7, 8, 14, and 21, 2019. Last date to download admit card is December 8, 2019.

Along with the admit cards, IBPS has also published information handout in english as well as hindi languages, and scribe declaration form. The information handouts contain details of the online exam for IBPS CRP Clerks IX for vacancies of 2020-21, how to answer questions, what to take to exam center, list of banned items, exam pattern, sample questions. 

Test takers must check their roll number, exam date, reporting time, venue as given in the call letters. They should be present at in the exam hall before the time given in admit card. Those who arrive 30 minutes after the reporting time will not get entry in the exam hall. 

IBPS instructs candidates to bring the officially issued IBPS clerk prelims admit card with a photo identity proof in original, and a photocopy. They have to write roll number, registration number on the photocopy of photo identity proof. In the presence of an invigilator, candidates have to place left hand thumb impression clearly on the admit card, and sign in the given space. Call letter, photocopy of photo identity proof suly stapled together should be surrendered to the invigilator when asked for.

Stationery items including pencil, eraser, ballpoint pen should be brought to the exam hall. 

In the exam hall, candidates will be provided with rough sheet to do rough work. All rough work has to be done in those sheets only, and before leaving, they should be surrendered.

Under the important points to remember section in information handout, IBPS says that candidates need to bring the call letter with recent passport size photograph, same as uploaded in form, affixed, and photo identity proof in original and copy. The allowed photo identity proof include aadhar, bank passbook with photograph, driving license, e-aadhar card with a photograph, employee id, identity card issued by a recognised college / university, pan card, passport, photo identity proof issued by a gazetted officer (on official letterhead), photo identity proof issued by a people’s representative (on official letterhead), voter’s card. Ration card and driving license are not accepted.  

Belt, bluetooth, cap, calculators, camera, earphones, electronic pen / scanner, goggles, handbags, hair pins, hair band, health band, log table, microphone, mobile phone, scales, pager, papers, pencil box, pen drive, pouches, watch, wrist watch, writing pad are not allowed inside the hall. Metallic items, edible items, are also not allowed. 

To appear in the IBPS clerk exam 2019, candidates are also not permitted to wear ornaments like rings, earrings, nose pin, chain, necklaces, pendants, badges, brooches. 

IBPS Clerk 2019 preliminary exam will be a one hour long online exam with three sections – english language, numerical ability, reasoning ability. These sections will respectively have 30, 35, and 35 questions of as many marks. Each section will have to be attempted in 20 minutes. Overall, the exam will have 100 questions of 100 marks. Last time IBPS Clerk cut off for general, OBC, SC, ST, EWS were respectively 59.75, 59.75, 53.5, 46.25, 59.75.

UPSC CDS 1 Exam 2020 Update: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the list of candidates whose application for Combined Defence Service Examination (1), 2020 has been rejected due to non-payment of application fee. Candidates who applied for examination can check their name in the list available on the official website of the Commission – upsc.gov.in.

In the notice issued by the UPSC on 25 November 2019 regarding the UPSC CDS (1) Exam 2020 application rejected list, a total of 16 candidates have been found whose payment confirmation was not received by the respective bank authorities.

All such candidates whose name is given the UPSC CDS 1 Exam 2020 Applications Rejected List can appeal against the rejection along with the documentary proof regarding the fee payment. The candidates would need to send their appeal to Commission either by hand or by speed post. All such requests can be submitted to Smt. Pushpa Minz Under Secretary (CDS), Union Public Service Commission, Room No. 427, Ayoug Sachivalaya Building, Dholpur House, Shahjahan Road, New Delhi-110069.

Candidates should note that the appeal against UPSC CDS 1 Exam 2020 Application Rejection will be accepted within 10 days of receiving email from the UPSC in this regard, the Notice clarifies.

UPSC in its UPSC CDS 1 Exam 2020 Applications Rejected notice has specified the documents that can be produced as proof of the application fee payment. These include,

(a) bank pay-inslip (in original) if payment was done through cash mode in SBI or its designated banks, or

(b) a copy of Debit/ Credit Card Statement or Bank Account Statement, in case the application fee was submitted through debit/credit cards or internet banking of authorised banks.

Patna Air Turns ‘Severe’; Supreme Court Issues Notice to All States on Pollution.

In an unprecedented step, the Supreme Court issued a notice to all Indian states and Union Territories on Monday, seeking their response on why they should not be held accountable to pay compensation to people for not providing clean air.

Even on the day of the hearing on air pollution, November 25, two cities from the state of Bihar recorded the highest AQIs as reported in the Daily Air Quality Index (AQI) Bulletin by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). Patna was the most polluted city in the country with ‘severe’ 24-hour average AQI of 404.

Are authorities neglecting environmental issues in cities?

In a three-hour hearing, a bench headed by Justice Arun Mishra and comprising Deepak Gupta said: “The AQI is extremely poor in many cities and towns. We also need to know how they are managing garbage. It appears that these issues have lost priorities for the authorities.”

Pollution levels in the country, particularly in the northern half of the state, consistently rise during the post-monsoon season. While the air quality worsens in almost all the regions, some states and union territories have persistently recorded the poorest air quality since the past few years.

Delhi, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, West Bengal, Rajasthan and Punjab are some of the regions where unhealthy air has lately become the norm.

Eastern cities most polluted on Monday

Patna and Muzaffarpur were the most polluted cities on Monday with AQI values of 404 (severe) and 393 (very poor) respectively. They were followed by West Bengal’s Howrah (329) and Asansol (324).

While the entire Indo-Gangetic plain is often the most polluted region in the country mainly due to geographic and meteorological reasons, so far this season, northwestern cities from Delhi NCR and Haryana had remained the most polluted cities. On Monday, only cities from Bihar and West Bengal remained the most polluted with ‘very poor’ air quality.

Bhiwadi (Rajasthan), Lucknow and Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh), Jorapokhar (Jharkhand), Vapi (Gujarat) and Narnaul (Haryana) occupied the rest of the spots on the list of top 10 most polluted cities.

Endangering right to life

Apart from air pollution levels, the bench also pointed out the emerging issue of unavailability of clean drinking water in many cities and towns. “Yamuna river has turned into sewage. River Ganga is also in the same condition. River water pollution is a major issue,” said the court.

SC observed that the right to life has been endangered by the states due to lack of response on most pressing issues.

“We have noted that every year, and year after year, the process is worsening…time has come to protect the right to life. Why should they (state administrations) not pay compensation on air pollution, not lifting garbage etc.? Time has come to rewind the state machinery,” said Justice Mishra.

India: Growing AIDS cases among prisoners alarm Bihar government.

Patna: The increasing cases of Aida among prisoners lodged in Bihar jails have alarmed the state administration. So far, 89 prisoners out of 4,000 inmates who underwent medical examination have been found suffering from Aids whereas the medical examination of remaining 34,000 prisoners lodged in jails are still under process.

Jail authorities are apprehensive of the fact that the number of such prisoners could go up alarmingly if the entire lot of 38,000 prisoners lodged in 59 jails were completed given the prevailing rate. The number of prisoners currently detected by AIDS is about 2 per cent of 4,000 inmates who were medically examined so far, officials said.

“The figures of inmates suffering from this deadly disease are indeed alarming. We have already chalked out a plan to create massive awareness drive about this disease among the prisoners,” Bihar’s inspector general of prisons Mithilesh Mishra told the media on Monday.

Mishra said the authorities would organise awareness camps among all the jails on December 1 to make them aware how they could protect themselves from this disease.

He added that the jail administration would intensify the medical tests from the very next month and would also initiate quite few more steps for better health care of the inmates.

According to officials, one of the major reasons behind the spread of the disease is the inmates’ addiction for drugs. “A good number of inmates lodged in jails are drug addicts. They may have taken drugs through infected syringes unaware of their serious consequences, before being sent to jail,” a senior jail official said preferring anonymity.

According to an official report, the number of HIV cases have grown alarmingly in the state in the past few years. The latest report of the National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO) says of the total number of estimated 2.14 million HIV cases in India, Bihar has roughly 115,000 people living with this disease.

IIM, Bodh Gaya concluded its annual leadership summit, Netritva.

Bodh Gaya: Indian Institute of Management, Bodh Gaya is concluded its annual leadership summit, Netritva on 24th November 2019. The first day of the event began with a tree plantation drive by the guests. The guests, with assistance from volunteers from Pragati, the CSR Club of IIM Bodh Gaya, planted saplings of various trees, paying homage to the Mahabodhi Tree. After the plantation drive, the guests were welcomed in traditional Indian fashion to the auditorium, Bhoomi. The guests, who include leaders from the corporate world, and stalwart figures of the media world, were welcomed to Netritva, and IIM Bodh Gaya by our director, Dr Vinita Sahay. In her welcome speech, Dr Sahay spoke of Netritva, as an enigmatic yet simple word, and how in the gathering people are aspiring to be leaders and those who are already leaders. She spoke of the necessity of premier schools to work towards creating leaders of the future words. Her welcome address was received by the guests with a round of applause. This was followed by the lighting of the lamp to inaugurate the auspicious event.
The first session of Netritva was a keynote address by Mr Gaurav Sangtani, President, Jigyasa Foundation. In his speech titled “Power of Disagreement: Diversity of Thought”, he quoted Aristotle, “It is a mark of an educated mind to entertain a thought without accepting it.” He spoke of a different kind of diversity, diversity of thought, and how it is as important as diversity in workplaces for a business to success. He touched on the aspect of groupthink, and how it differing opinions are essential for the working of a business. He highlighted the major challenges in ensuring diversity of thought and suggested how to overcome these. His enlightening speech was enthusiastically applauded by the students.
The second session was a panel discussion on the topic, “Diversity in Leadership Roles”. The panel was aimed at celebrating the women leaders of modern India. The panellists were Ms Amita Karadkhedkar, VP, Citibank, Ms Yamini Krishnan, Director – HR, IQVIA, Ms Aparajita Roy, Director HR, PHFI, Ms Saswati Sinha, Head – HR, Cheil India, and Ms Mehak Mahajan, Director – Business Operations, ZestMoney. Moderating the panel was Ms Nishtha Gautam, Opinion Editor, The Quint. The panel opened with the moderator. The panellists spoke of all forms of diversities present in organizations today and how they are being addressed in the present context.
The sessions resumed after a tea break with a keynote address by Dr Rajeev Bhadauria, Ebullient. He spoke on “Learning to Manage the Future that has arrived- applying the changed rules of the Game or revisiting/ reconfiguring the Game itself”. He speech revolved around preparing to become leaders in the world of Industry 4.0 and Web 5.0. He provided the students with guidelines to overcome challenges in this new world and coming out on top.
The fourth and final session of the day was a media panel. The panellists were Ms Nishtha Gautam, Mr Bibhu Ranjan Mishra, Associate Editor & Chief of Bureau, Business Standard, Mr Danish Manzoor, Editorial Director (Asia), Newsweek Group and Ms Deepshikha Sikarwar, Senior Editor, The Economic Times. The panel deliberated on the topic “Changing Landscapes of Newsrooms”. The panel contemplated how the rigidity and hierarchy in newsrooms have been set aside with the advent of digital and social media. They also reflected on the problems brought about this sudden rise of these platforms.
After a very successful first day, Netritva continued to its second and final day in IIM Bodh Gaya. The day began with a keynote address by Mr Harsh Kumar, Executive Director, IBM. The topic of his speech was “The Cognitive Enterprise – Perspectives of the Industry”. The main theme of his enlightening talk revolved around how regular organizations are absorbing innovation in present times. According to him, “Disruptive environmental forces are driving seismic shifts within the Industry”. He spoke of how organizations fail to adapt to rapid technological development and disappear. He highlighted several points for organizations to implement to survive and thrive in this world of disruptive development. He also shared some guidelines for the students to follow for succeeding in Industry 4.0.
The next in the programme was the third and final panel discussion of Netritva 2019. The esteemed panellists were Mr Rakesh Singhania, Chief Finance Officer, Wells Fargo India, Ms Shrabani Basu, Vice President, Human Resources, Reliance Industries Ltd., Mr Sanjay Chandel, Vice President and Head, Human Resources, Sterling India, and Mr Satyajit Mohanty, Chief Human Resources Officer, Crompton Greaves. The moderator for the panel was Mr Rajeev Bhadauria, Managing Partner, Ebullient. The discussions in the panel revolved around the topic “Biggest Challenges faced by Leaders of Modern India”. Mr Bhadauria opened the discussion by distinguishing a leader from a manager. In his words, a manager does things systematically, while a leader takes a systemic approach to any work. He also defined modernity as an aspect of the state of a person’s mind. He presented two aspects of modernity – a scientific attitude, and a humanistic perspective. Ms Shrabani Basu drew instances from her long and illustrious career in Human Resources to identify career derailment as the biggest challenge for leadership. She suggested that jobs should be augmented with the ability to cope with challenges to overcome this problem. Mr Sanjay Chandel emphasized on the importance of learning for effective and efficient leadership. His advice to the students was that learning cannot stop, no matter what the station or occasion and a learning organization are essential for growth. Mr Rakesh Singhania pointed out that leadership cannot be effective without trust from the employees. Only when employees trust the leader can the organization reach new heights. Mr Satyajit Mohanty provided two suggestions for organizations to help create learning organizations. First, the organization must set goals which make people learn, and second, the organization must create an environment where learning is not hindered for people working in it. Once the panel opened for questions, the guests, and the students and teachers of IIM Bodh Gaya actively participated in the discussion with the panellists. The students gained many insights regarding leadership and its challenges from the discussion.
The end of the panel marked the conclusion of Netritva, the Leadership Summit of IIM Bodh Gaya. The Director of the Institute, Dr Vinita Sahay delivered the vote of thanks and felicitated the guests with a memento. In her speech, she praised the efforts of the volunteers for the event for managing it successfully and commended the Media & PR Cell and Placement Committee, IIM Bodh Gaya for successfully organizing the event.

CDS Result 2019: UPSC declares final results, here’s how to check.

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Monday announced the result of Combined Defence Services (CDS) on its official website. A total of 129 (82+44+03) candidates have qualified the CDS exam 2019. All those candidates who appeared in the exam can check their results on upsc.gov.in.

The final merit list has been prepared on the basis of CDS (I) 2019 exam and the Services Selection Board (SSB) interviews. The CDS exam was conducted by the UPSC in  February, 2019 and SSB interviews were held by the Services Selection Board of the Ministry of Defence for admission to the 148th Course of Indian Military Academy, Dehradun; Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala, Kerala and Air Force Academy, Hyderabad (Pre-Flying) Training Course.

UPSC CDS (I) final result has been declared in the form of a merit list, which contain details like name and roll number of the candidates who have successfully qualified in the examination. Candidates can check their results by entering their name or roll number.

These results are available on the UPSC website.  However, marks of the candidates would be available on the website after completion of its complete process i.e. after declaration of final result of Officers’ Training Academy (OTA) for Combined Defence Services Examination (I), 2019.

The number of vacancies, as intimated by the Government is 100 for Indian Military Academy (including 13 vacancies reserved for  NCC ‘C’ certificates (Army Wing) holders), 45 for Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala, Kerala Executive (General Service)  [including 6 vacancies reserved  for NCC ‘C’ Certificate holders (Naval Wing)] and 32 for Air Force Academy, Hyderabad.

The Commission had recommended 2,726, 1,609 and 643 as qualified in the written test for admission to the Indian Military Academy, Indian Naval Academy and Air Force Academy, respectively.

The results of medical examination have not been taken into account in preparing these lists, an official notice said.

“Verification of date of birth and educational qualifications of these candidates is still under process by the Army Headquarters.  The candidature of all these candidates is, therefore, Provisional on this score. Candidates are requested to forward their certificates, in original, in support of Date of Birth/Educational qualification etc. claimed by them, along with Photostat attested copies thereof to Army Headquarters /Naval Headquarters /Air Headquarters, as per their first choice,” the notice said.

The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) released a notification for the recruitment of 1153 Specialist Officer (SO) posts at 17 nationalized banks early in November. The IBPS SO online application form 2019 is nearing last date on November 26.

After the IBPS SO 2019 notification was released, candidates were able to apply online at the official website ibps.in from November 6.

The IBPS SO (full form: Institute of Banking Personnel Selection Specialist Officer) Recruitment exam is conducted for hiring at managerial roles like IT Officer, Agricultural Field Officer, Law Officer, HR/ Personnel Officer etc.

IBPS SO Recruitment exam in December

The IBPS SO recruitment examination will be held online and in two phases — preliminary and main. The preliminary exam is scheduled for December 28-29. The main exam will be held on January 25, 2020.

IBPS SO Registration: How to apply

Step 1: Go to IBPS’s authorized website www.ibps.in and click on the Home Page to open the link “CRP Specialist Officers” and then click on the option “CLICK HERE TO APPLY ONLINE FOR CRP- Specialist Officers (CRP-SPL-IX)” to open the On-Line Application Form.

Step 2: Candidates will have to click on “CLICK HERE FOR NEW REGISTRATION” to register their application by entering their basic information in the online application form.

Step 3: After that a provisional registration number and password will be generated by the system and displayed on the screen. Candidate should note down the provisional registration number and password.

Step 4: Candidates are required to upload their:

  • Photograph
  • Signature
  • Left Thumb Impression
  • A hand written declaration

MS Dhoni’s records as the captain in Tests are being broken at will by his successor Virat Kohli. The latter has already overtaken him as the most successful India captain in the long format by winning the 28th match. And now, Virat Kohli has eclipsed Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s record of leading India to the most number of consecutive Test matches — six.

With India thrashing Bangladesh by an innings and 46 runs in Kolkata on Sunday, Kohli has now led India to seven back-to-back wins in Tests, one more than Dhoni’s record made in 2013 against Australia and the West Indies.

However, Dhoni is little touched by losing one more record. The 38-year-old continues to have extended break from international cricket and recently, the ace wicketkeeper was seen sharing batting tips with a friend at the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) Stadium in Ranchi, his home town.

Wearing a gray-colored shirt and lower and a blue cap, Dhoni was seen giving the tips of hitting the ball by stepping out to his friend. He was also demonstrating the bat lift. His official fans’ club posted the video on Twitter on Saturday.

MS Dhoni hasn’t played international cricket since World Cup

Although he has been away from Team India’s international assignments since the semi-final of the ICC World Cup against New Zealand at Old Trafford that the Men in Blue lost closely, Dhoni has been in the discussions. He hasn’t yet called it quits from international cricket unlike many had thought and it has left the selectors, team management and fans guessing about his next plan.

Dhoni has not made himself available for a number of series since the World Cup (against the West Indies, South Africa, Bangladesh) and with the selectors not bringing him back for the upcoming home series against the Caribbeans, Dhoni will not be seen in international cricket in 2019 again.

The focus is now whether he makes it to the 2020 T20 World Cup to be held in Australia as India are yet to settle on his successors. The man led India to two World Cup wins in 2007 (T20Is) and 2011 (ODIs).
